Empire of the Summer Moon is an intriguing book of the Comanches in general, and Quanah Parker in particular. I have read several books on native Americans, but hadn’t covered the Comanches yet. Overall, the book covers their battles with the Spaniards and Mexicans before it turns into the 19th century.

Comanche Moon is the second book in the "Lonesome Dove" series, and it continues to provide the back story on the lives of Woodrow Call, Augustus McCrae, and several other major characters.

I really enjoyed getting to know Call and Gus better, and to see the events that hardened them into the men that shined in the third, and in my opinion, the 4/5. Comanche Moon was an incredible book. I stayed up almost to am at night reading it (although I try to go to bed semi-early on the weekends because it messes me up for the weeknights since I have to get up really early), but /5.

"Comanche Moon" is the second novel chronologically in the Lonesome Dove series but the last of the series written by McMurtry. And while not equal to the great "Lonesome Dove" (few books are), "Comanche Moon" is a fine, fine novel.
